- Cam Ward is no stranger to his new backup, Michael Leighton. In 2004, the two went toe-to-toe when the Norfolk Admirals and the Lowell Lock Monsters brawled.
One of the most interesting training camp auditions is taking place in Edmonton where erstwhile sharpshooter Anson Carter is trying out for the Oilers. The right winger scored 33 goals playing alongside the Sedin twins in 2005-06 and then did virtually zippo for Columbus last season while pulling in $2.5 million.
Does he have a chance to become an Oiler again? "I don't know if I would consider it a long shot, but he is in tough," says Craig MacTavish. "We'll see what he has."
- Good Wisecrack Dep't.: (Except If You're In Detroit) Brian Rolston talking about being 34-years-old: "I feel young, which is all that matters. If I was on the Red Wings, I'd be really young."
