What people are talking about this morning ...
Another Yankee may be on the outs as Andy Pettitte declined his $16 million option with the club, and is still pondering whether he wants to pitch again next season.
Alex Belth over at Bronx Banter, believes it's "crucial" that the Bombers keep Pettitte.- Chien-Ming Wang, on the other hand, is certain he wants to return to the Bronx. And despite being disappointed about Joe Torre's departure, he is ready to get to work for new manager, Joe Girardi.
Wang, who went 19-7 with a 3.70 ERA last season, expressed his love for the pinstripes by saying, "The Yankees are one of the best teams. I want to stay with them forever." - Another hurler who's sure he wants to pitch next season is Curt Schilling, and the veteran righty is reportedly close to sticking with the Red Sox for another year.
On his blog, 38 Pitches, Schilling is confident the two sides will get something done for him to remain in Beantown. - Hall-Of-Fame bound Greg Maddux is also willing to stick around for another season and reportedly agreed to terms for a one-year, $10 million deal with San Diego.
I guess the Padres find him a pisser to have around in the clubhouse, as ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reported back in March about Maddux the prankster. - With the Mitchell Report on everyone's mind, Mets GM Omar Minaya said he won't hesitate to pursue players because they could be listed in George Mitchell's report as drug users.
Over at Hot Foot, Anthony De Rosa also touches on Minaya's possibility of landing Dontrelle Willis, and his quotes on Alex Rodriguez and re-signing Paul Lo Duca.
Speaking of cheats, AOL Fanhouse's Larry Brown looks at the report that Jose Guillen, Matt Williams and Ismael Valdez bought steroids and HGH. - And with "Super Bowl 41 1/2" in the books, the NFL spotlight has pointed toward East Rutherford where the Giants are eager to take on the rival Cowboys in this weekend's marquee matchup.
Brandon Buchanan of Giants 101 believes the Giants can kiss the NFC East crown goodbye if they fall to the 'Boys. - Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was one of five goalies to record shutouts Monday night, earning his fourth shutout of the season as the Blueshirts blanked the Flyers, 2-0 at The Garden.
Inferno272 posts on RangersReview that Lundqvist is still "Godlike," but doesn't like the way the Rangers sit back on leads.
