Colton Orr: A Happy Camper On Day 1
Posted on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 5:24 PMToday was Day 1 of the 2008 Rangers Youth Hockey Camp, where I am an on-ice coach.
It was great to have all the happy campers back at the MSG Training Center. I worked with all three age groups for their afternoon sessions, when I was joined by Marc Staal, Adam Graves and Nick Fotiu.
I made sure the youngest group did my favorite drill, "The Superman," where the campers line up on the goal line, then skate as fast as they can to center ice and dive on their stomachs to see who can slide the farthest.
Even though I did not participate in such a high-level summer camp as a kid, this brings back many memories for me.
I am looking forward to tomorrow, especially lunch where I will definitely be having a hamburger, since our team chefs are here cooking for everyone and they do not typically serve us burgers during the hockey season.
