Bigfoot May Not Be Real, But Carl Pavano Is
Grab your cameras, there's a Pavano sighting!
Over the last few weeks, several mythical creatures havemade some rather stunning appearances.
It began with the discovery of the Montauk Monster, continued with an impressive and recorded sighting of El Chupacabra, and concluded with the "recovery" of a deceased Bigfoot, which was later proved to be another Halloween costume hoax.
But as entertaining and impressive as those sightings were, the baseball world should prepare itself for something even rarer: Carl Pavano.
Barring some sort of unforeseen, but not entirely unlikely intervention, the creature with glass bones and paper skin will actually take the mound for the first time since April 9, 2007.
"He worked extremely hard to put himself in this position, to get back and help the club," agent Tom O'Connell told the Star-Ledger. "He's really excited about the opportunity and he's up to the challenge."
After essentially sitting out and collecting paychecks fornearly four years — even when he was healthy enough to pitch — it's hard to expect anything from Pavano. Even if he manages to safely make it to the mound on Saturday, I would only give it two innings before he injures something.
In the words of Charlie Brown ... Ugh!
