Everything You Wanted to Know About Brett Favre: Week 6
Pranking to the extreme
by: Gregory Gethard
Brett Favre is tragically ignored by the New York media. As such, every week we'll seek out the latest and greatest in Brett Favre news and share it with you here on Game On!.
15,143. That's the number of results in my Google Reader set up to pull news articles on Brett Favre, which isn't bad for a bye week. Last week, that figure stood at 19,120.
This post is about one of those articles, and it's insane.
Brett Favre has a reputation as a locker room prankster. And the Times (and Deadspin) revealed Favre's latest "joke" – he stuffed a dead animal in teammate Eric Barton's locker.
The animal, rumored to be a wild turkey, was stuffed in a bag full of blood and mangled guts. Said Jets guard Alan Feneca:
"It definitely had the wow factor," said Faneca, whose locker is next to Barton's. "I've never had a dead animal brought into the locker room, so yeah, it's up there."
No member of the Jets revealed when Favre pulled this stunt. But let's assume this happened over the bye week. This means Favre spent his time off shooting guns at wild birds. Fair enough: He's from rural Mississippi. People like to hunt there. He then placed a dead animal and its remains into a bag, and transported said dead animal across state lines. Then he spent the rest of the bye week lying in wait until the locker room was clear so he could dump the dead animal in Barton's locker. Or, possibly, he paid an assistant to do all of the above.
Brett Favre is not just a great quarterback. He is also a master of disgusting prop comedy. The Blue Collar Comedy Tour should open up a spot for him. And maybe, in return, the Jets could add Larry the Cable Guy to the roster.
