Giants Look to Pound the Browns
Williams adds fuel to the Giants fire
A funny thing happened this week that may have a huge impact on the Giants-Browns game Monday night ... Big Blue and their Jim Brown-like RB, Brandon Jacobs, were insulted by Cleveland DT Corey Williams.
When speaking to the press, Mr. Williams issued what might be the worst-timed comment ever, "There ain't nothing physical about them."
Williams then continued to put his foot in his team's mouth by adding that when he played for Green Bay in last year's NFC championship game, it was Ahmad Bradshaw, not Jacobs, who really killed them.
I think Corey may have forgotten a small piece of information – he won't have the Green Bay defense on the field with him Monday night!
When I pointed out these comments to Jacobs in the locker room Thursday, you could see the fire in his eyes. I then tried to have his O-line explain what in the world Mr. Williams could be thinking, but the feeling was that they will let their play do the talking in Cleveland.
If I was Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin, I would send a basket of fruit to Corey Williams with a card that reads, "Thanks for getting my offense up for Monday Night. See you. Thanks, Coach Coughlin."
Let's forget about a trap game. The Cleveland Dogs can't score (11 ppg) and their offense is the worst in the NFL. Defensively, the Browns are not much better, and now they have lit a fire under Jacobs & Co.
This should be a long night for Cleveland fans and they have only one person to thank, Corey Williams, who plans on stopping the Giants' running game, which is the best in the NFL at 181.2 yards per game. Brandon Jacobs is averaging an incredible 5.8 yards each time he runs over someone, and against Seattle, it looked liked men versus boys.
Big Blue will try to make Mr. Williams black-and-blue for his opinions, but in the end, Corey will wonder why he didn't just let this sleeping dog lie down.
