Pickin' Fights: Browns Target Brandon Jacobs

Fightin' words

Tagged as: Pickin' Fights , Cleveland Browns , Brandon Jacobs

Trash talking is a part of the game, and whether it's an opposing team's fans or the players themselves, it's a factor in almost every single NFL.

Pickin' Fights examines the tit-for-tat going on between the New York Giants and theopposition.

In what was the third coldest game in NFL history, the New York Giants defeated the Green Bay Packers to advance to Super Bowl XLII. It was a game that depended on the run; a game that depended on Brandon Jacobs.

Brandon JacobsOn Jacobs' very first carry, he took the handoff to the right side and absolutely demolished Charles Woodson.

That play – that hit – set the tone for the game. Despite the cold, despite the weather, the Giants were going to play fast, physical football.

Those sorts of hits have been common for Jacobs over his short career, but there are still some nonbelievers. In fact, one of the players from that Packers' team still feel the 6-foot-4, 260-pound running back is a bit overrated.

"We were hitting (Jacobs), and he was slowing it down," Corey Williams said. "He left the game. They let the Bradshaw kid come in. He's really the one who killed us."

Williams went on to add that the plan this Monday is to hit Jacobs in the mouth and stated that the Giants "aren't physical."

All three comments ended up on the Giants locker room bulletin board.

If there is any saving grace to this utter nonsense, it's the football knowledge expressed by some Cleveland fans. Unlike some Seahawks fans who were blatantly disrespectful and clueless, some Browns fans understand the game ... and more importantly, Brandon Jacobs.

User fuzzymunky4 said, "Talk about throwing the rest of the defense under the bus. The problem is that this is not last year's Packer defense. It's the 2008 Browns defense, and while they have played somewhat respectably lately, they have not played an offense like the Giants have, and there are far more weapons than Brandon Jacobs."

Unfortunately for the logo-less, orange-and-brown wearing Cleveland Browns, one knowledgeable fan isn't going to save them. The beast has been angered and he'll be looking for someone to take it out on this Monday.
