This morning's local sports news

The Year of A-Rod
Alex Rodriguez is getting ready to propel himself to become the single most annoying figure on our planet. In his first Spring Training game, he hits a home run. Sounds good, right? Well, after the game, he left in a car with the cousin who injected him with steroids. I can only shake my head. (NY Post)
Luis Baseball
Luis Castillo drove in four runs in the Mets win over whomever yesterday. The easy joke: Luis Castillo will only drive in five runs all season. I don't have a hard joke to make because it's too early in the morning. (NY Daily News)
Coles Gone
BREAKING NEWS: Laveranues Coles is no longer a Jet. This comes just as I was learning to spell his first name correctly. It sounds like a smart move to me, letting the team's best wide receiver go when the Jets are looking to develop a quarterback. Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff, get ready for a bunch of 12 passes in 38 attempts sort of games. (NY Times)
The Devin Harris Show
Devin Harris rules. There's no other way to put it. One game after his ridiculous buzzer-beater, he puts in 42 points while only taking 23 shots. I love that man. (Star-Ledger)
Close Comeback
Speaking of awesome, Nate Robinson continues his rapid ascent toward stardom. He poured in 32 points in a losing effort against the Orlando Magic, led by some guy Nate dunked over a few weeks back. (Newsday)
