On the Hardwood: DePaul Dealt Another Blow
Blue Demons' leading scorer jumping ship
It won't get any easier for Jerry Wainwright. On the heels of a dismal season in which DePaul finished 9-24, including a pitiful 0-18 record in Big East conference play, the Blue Demons will lose their best player as Dar Tucker will enter the 2009 NBA Draft.
Tucker, the Blue Demons' leader in scoring at 18.5 PPG, will hire an agent.
Despite an upset win over Cincinnati in the first round of the Big East Tournament, the DePaul administration made Wainwright fire his entire staff, including his son Scott and associate head coach Gary DeCesare.
THIS AND THAT:
- It really irks me that more people aren't talking about Jamesville-Dewitt's Brandon Triche. This guy will make immediate contributions for Syracuse next season and is right out of the Brandon Roy mold. He shared New York State's Mr. Basketball with Lance Stephenson, and that's saying something.
- Watch John Wall once and you'll say one thing ... wow. Here's saying he ends up at Kentucky.
- Give Derrick Rose one more season and the conversation about NBA point guards will go like this. "There's Chris Paul, Deron Williams AND Derrick Rose."
