Paul Gause Drafted by UFL Las Vegas
Former Seton Hall basketball captain to play football in new UFL
MSG.com has learned that former Seton Hall basketball standout Paul Gause is joining the Las Vegas franchise of the new UFL, coached by former Giants head coach Jim Fassel.
The 5-foot-11, 188-pound former South Jersey prep star, who owns several school basketball and football records in Pittsgrove, N.J., was drafted by Las Vegas and is believed to be considered a cornerback.
Earlier this year, Gause drew interest from the New York Jets and was to be invited to their rookie mini-camp. He was also looking for an opportunity to play next season in Piscataway for Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano, but Big East rules prohibit transferring within the conference, even though the Pirates do not have a football program.
Gause recently received interest from the Temple Owls, but decided that playing in the UFL was his best option.
The second all-time steals leader in Seton Hall history felt it would be better to regain his gridiron skills than play on the hardcourt.
And if all works out, Gause can then follow his NFL dream after next season.
