Once upon a time there was a hockey Clash of the Century at the Garden between Tie Domi and Bob Probert.
Both top-grade fighters who didn't like each other, the Ranger(Domi) and Red Wing made it clear well in advance of the game that theywould – at some point in the contest – drop their gloves.
The prospective bout was so widely-heralded that newspapers printed a Tale of the Tape on the day of the game.
Yes, the bout did take place and it was, as billed, a dilly.
One might expect the same type of event to take place on Saturdaynight in Calgary where the Rangers take their one-game winning streakto the Penngrowth Saddledome.
This time, the featured brawlers-to-be shape up as Sean Avery and Dion Phaneuf, a rather unlikely pair until you consider the circumstances.
