I thought there was no crying in football, but come to think of it, Jets head coach Rex Ryan now shares the same emotion most Jets fans have experienced since Joe Namath's 1969 Super Bowl victory.
The 2009 New York Jets have learned a valuable lesson after falling to 4-5 on the season: keep your bravado to yourself until you learn how to win. Jets rookie head coach Rex Ryan wanted his team to believe how good they could be without proving it on the field.
Through eight games this season, Jets head coach Rex Ryan has seen just about everything: the good, the bad and the ugly. A 4-4 record will usually mean that a team is average, but for some reason the players and coaches wearing the Jets uniform believe they're a playoff team.
The Jets fell to 4-4 Sunday thanks to a tough loss to the rival Miami Dolphins. I caught up with Newsday's Rod Boone after the game to break down just what Gang Green did wrong in the losing effort.
The 4-3 Jets snapped a three-game losing streak last week by easily crushing Oakland 38-0; however, this division rivalry between Gang Green and the Fish is personal, with both teams having great disdain for one another.

The Jets' shutout win over the Raiders couldn't have gone better, as they embarrassed Oakland in front of their fans. But then came the news after the game that their all-purpose playmaker, Leon Washington, was lost for the season after suffering a heartbreaking broken right fibula in the first quarter.
Maybe flying three thousand miles west can fix some of the problems facing the Jets Sunday in Oakland. Then again, having defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, the rock of their defense, out for the season and not making the trip could make it difficult to escape reality.
Don't say I didn't warn you, Jets fans, when about a month ago I said the season could look very ugly at times. On Sunday, "very ugly" was putting it lightly as Gang Green blew a 10-point halftime lead to the awful (2-4) Bills in a 16-13 overtime loss up in Buffalo.
The Jets 'D' showed it is not all powerful against the Dolphins Monday night. Newsday's Bob Glauber and I discuss the weaknesses of Gang Green's defense, as well the offense, heading into the Jets showdown with the Bills this week.
