Through eight games this season, Jets head coach Rex Ryan has seen just about everything: the good, the bad and the ugly. A 4-4 record will usually mean that a team is average, but for some reason the players and coaches wearing the Jets uniform believe they're a playoff team.

But then came the news after the game that their all-purpose playmaker, Leon Washington, was lost for the season after suffering a heartbreaking broken right fibula in the first quarter.

Maybe flying three thousand miles west can fix some of the problems facing the Jets Sunday in Oakland. Then again, having defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, the rock of their defense, out for the season and not making the trip could make it difficult to escape reality.

Don't say I didn't warn you, Jets fans, when about a month ago I said the season could look very ugly at times. On Sunday, "very ugly" was putting it lightly as Gang Green blew a 10-point halftime lead to the awful (2-4) Bills in a 16-13 overtime loss up in Buffalo.
