Book Your Favorite Celebrity For Your Next Party

Tagged as: Bill Cowher, Bob Dylan, Entertainment, Elton John, Christina Aguilera, AC/DC, Green Day, Grabow, Don Rickles, U2

Book Your Favorite Celebrity For Your Next Party Next time you start putting together plans for a house party, you could do yourself a favor and make sure it consists of something more than just a stocked bar and a special iPod playlist. Whatever the occasion, if you want to make a truly indelible mark on your guests, Grabow is one of the top entertainment bookers of high-end talent we've found. Unlike some talent bookers, Grabow isn't in the habit of booking Rick Springfield and Tiffany in an attempt to resuscitate their careers. Not even close. In fact, some of the artists Grabow has booked to entertain at events include Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Steve Miller, Green Day, Tina Turner, AC/DC, and U2. Naturally, each of these artists has their own schedule to contend with when it comes time to book your event, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a finer roster of entertainers for a house party. If you are not looking for a musical act, the company also works with a number of other celebrities who you could book and subsequently pay to basically hang out at your party. Which, depending on the celeb, could be a sound investment. Such guests listed by Grabow include everyone from former NFL coach Bill Cowher to Lance Armstrong to (one of our personal favorites) Don Rickles. In fact, if there is any way we could get Rickles to greet our guests at the door, perhaps in tandem with Cowher, THAT would be an event to remember.

HBO Releases Two Must-Have Box Sets for the Holidays

Tagged as: Entertainment, Television, HBO, Sopranos, The Sopranos, The Wire, Holidays, Christmas

HBO Releases Two Must-Have Box Sets for the Holidays Sadly, the past 16 months have seen the unfortunate demise of two of our absolute favorite shows. One of them, the Sopranos, developed the most spirited, fanatical following of any show on television. The other, the Wire, never quite developed a sizeable audience despite being arguably the best thing on TV. Cast and crew from the Wire are continuing the series' legacy with a new web series, Life After Lisa, currently under production. Other than reruns, we've been getting our Sopranos fix from an underwhelming licensed wine and a bus tour that takes Sopranos hardcores to real-life New Jersey sites from the show. Fortunately, HBO is making up for these tired endeavors with ultimate box sets for each series. It started last week with the release of the Sopranos box set, a 33-disc opus featuring every episode of the show. All six seasons come in one $400 box showcasing 86 episodes, three CDs of soundtrack music, extra scenes, interviews, panel discussions, and even spoofs of the series from shows like Saturday Night Live and Mad TV. It's the ultimate box set for any Sopranophile. But that?s just the first great holiday box set from HBO. The Wire will also be getting its ultimate box set treatment with the release of the complete series on December 9th. Not a lot of info available about this $250 set, but every episode of the show will be showcased on 23 discs. Other upcoming holiday box set treatments include the Pink Panther and Alfred Hitchcock, but if you?re looking for quality holiday gifts that ensure their recipient will spend some quality time in front of a 60-inch plasma, you?ll be hard-pressed to find better options.

Watch Movies on Your Glasses

Tagged as: Carl Zeiss, Cinemizer, MyVu Crystal, Travel, Movies, iPod, Technology, Entertainment, Electronics

Watch Movies on Your Glasses Watching your favorite Blu-Ray DVDs on a new 60-inch plasma is the typical enjoyable home entertainment experience. Then there's the occasional desperate attempt at iPod video viewing. This is not how you were supposed to watch the Godfather. But some manufacturers are trying to provide a new way to watch your mobile video without squinting. The finest example so far is the new, limited-edition Cinemizer video eyewear from Carl Zeiss. While plenty of tech companies have made a play for this emerging video eyewear market, most of them have been lacking either in design or technology. Such is the case of Toshiba's massive head-mounted unit, where they've taken a mobile medium and turned it into a neck-straining monstrosity. The Cinemizer, on the other hand, brings a slick design that interacts with your iPod to simulate a four-foot screen at a distance of almost seven feet away. Only 500 of these golden-edition Cinemizer models have been made, providing impressive and clear video straight from your iPod and iPhone. Cinemizer reviews have been strong so far and the new golden version is one of the few video eyewear models that you might actually consider wearing in public. Of course, considering how many New Yorkers we've seen engaged in their texting to such a degree that they almost walk into oncoming traffic, it's probably not a good idea. For anyone requiring this kind of entertainment during their cross-country or trans-Atlantic flights, there are similar models also earning strong reviews, particularly the MyVu Crystal, an iPod-compatible personal viewer that also happens to look pretty good on your face.

James Bond Goes From Escapist Cinema to Aspirational Luxury

Tagged as: Atlantis, Entertainment, James Bond, Travel, Quantum of Solace, Atacama Desert, Panama City

James Bond Goes From Escapist Cinema to Aspirational Lifestyle For decades, Agent 007 on her Majesty's secret service was a distant dream through which we lived vicariously. But with recent Bond films (including the newly-released Quantum of Solace) focusing on aspirational luxury as a cinematic backdrop, the life of James Bond is within reach. The last Bond film, Casino Royale, featured some beautiful backdrops that were just a direct flight away, including the Atlantis on Paradise Island and the Karlovy Vary spa in Czech Republic, which doubled as the fabled Casino Royale in Montenegro. With the new film in theaters, an entire series of new high-end locales have been forever linked to Bond, making for a definitive contemporary 007 vacation. Taking place primarily in Latin America, Quantum of Solace features a variety of scenic locations like the Atacama Desert in Chile and the Casco Viejo quarter and Calidonia district of Panama City, both of which feature a variety of high-end accommodations. Theere are also some European backdrops, including the Torre di Talamonaccio in the Southern Tuscany, a gorgeous, secluded tower that is available for rent for about $8,700 a week. A rundown of these locales in the Times Online also suggests the Villa Cortene in Italy, a similar escape whose packages include flights, concierge service, and a potential car upgrade to a Ferrari or Lamborghini but no Aston Martin, so it isn?t the most authentic part of a serious Bond getaway. Just remember to pack a tuxedo for the trip.
