Omaha Steaks (Yes, Omaha Steaks) Does Luxury
While we never anticipated a company called Omaha Steaks would dive headfirst into the luxury market, it has happened. Considering the last overblown luxury steak venture we saw was Donald Trump trying to peddle meat exclusively through the Sharper Image (the company went belly up roughly a year after the venture), we're plenty skeptical. But a quick look at Omaha Steaks' Private Reserve has us paying attention.
For a $10,000 fee, Omaha Steaks arranges for their executive chef and culinary staff to come to your home and arrange a fine-dining experience revolving around a menu that includes bacon-wrapped scallops with jalapeno jelly, marinated tortellini kebabs, lobster mashed potatoes, and filet mignon topped with stilton cheese souffle and Cabernet white truffle demi-glace. The company even offers wine pairings courtesy of owner Fred Simon?s private wine cellar.
There are blackout dates, primarily December 24, 25, 31, and January 1st, but otherwise it looks like a potentially pleasant experience at home. Considering the exorbitant price, it works best for a large-scale get-together or special occasion. Whatever the occasion, it?s nice to know you have an executive chef on call considering most quality private chefs can be difficult to book, especially on short notice.
From there, the only real question is the meat quality from an over-marketed and absurdly-named company like Omaha Steaks. Most of the reviews we've found are overwhelmingly positive, so we can assume that the food should be quality, although we?re still skeptical about the service from a company not exactly known for the human touch.

New York's Latest Stadium Luxury Suites Going Fast
With two new stadiums slated to open in the next 18 months and some new renovations coming to the World?s Most Famous Arena, you can officially start preparing for the run on luxury suites.
Let?s start with CitiField opening in 2009 as the first of New York's newest venues to announce that its luxury suites, going for as much as $500,000, are completely sold out. While the Yankees have been more tight-lipped regarding their upcoming new stadium, Bloomberg reported on October 10th that of their roughly 47 luxury suites (about seven suites) priced at around $600,000 each, were still available to potential buyers.
While the baseball stadium sales figures are impressive, there's no disputing that, even if it doesn't open before 2010, the new Giants/Jets stadium is the biggest of the new players when it comes to luxury accommodations. With 200 luxury boxes up for grabs, individual suites started selling at around $1 million each when they went on sale last year. With no word yet on availability, Jets owner Woody Johnson is saying he foresees a strong demand for the roughly 2,000 seating licenses that will be up for grabs on StubHub starting October 19th. The auction ends October 27th and the licenses will provide potential ticket buyers access to the Coaches Club, a VIP dining, drinking, and lounge area situated directly behind the Jets' bench.
Considering the selection of new VIP Premier Seating options coming to Madison Square Garden, including 68 new mid-level suites (each 50% larger) and 20 new floor-level suites ready by 2011, don?t think you can drag your heels just because the financial news is atrocious. The race is on.

We're the first to admit that we occasionally retreat towards our state-of-the-art, blow-your-mind, full-sensory-overload home theater. We?d love to go to the local multiplex, but the typical New York movie theater isn't nearly as comfortable a viewing experience as our couch, particularly when the guy sitting behind us starts taking phone calls from his boys. Fortunately, Village Roadshow, the studio best-known for films like

Forget giving up your seat to an elderly person. The evolution of personal coaches (ie: buses) is pretty astounding and Marathon Coach is one of the companies that has jumped all over the emerging personalized luxury coach market. We were hesitant to take the customized coach thing seriously, but that was primarily because we once found out the hard way that a bus is the absolute worst place in the world to be hung over (just trust us on this, it is a horrific experience). But Marathon's Oregon headquarters is the home base for a team of designers and craftspeople ready to help you design your own floorplan for the luxury coach of your dreams.

For the past year or two, Fiat has been primarily making headlines for their Fiat Nuova 500, the shifty three-door hatchback that was awarded the 2008 European Car of the Year award. Just when we were starting to hear rumbling about the 500 coming to America, we now get to see the smooth and summer Fiorino Portofino. The vintage look was inspired by the luxury Fiat models previously enjoyed by the gilded Italian jetset of the 1950s and 60s. With the choice between a 1.4L gasoline and 1.3L Multijet engine, the Portofino is intended as a holiday luxury toy that is more likely to get you from the summer house to the beach than from door to door.
